日本を代表するジャズ・ピアニスト/プロデューサー、クリヤ・マコトがアンバサダーとして世界中のジャズ・アーティストを紹介する特別企画。
第一段のゲストは、カナダはケベックの才女、エミーRルセール（初来日）。
クリヤ・マコトの豊富な経験と知識を活かしたトークセッション、エミーRルセール・トリオによるライブなどを予定。
Makoto Kuriya , Japanese jazz pianist , is known to travel around the world and collaborate with many foreign artists (Aki Yashiro, Ken Hirai and more).
With “Jazz Ambassador” sessions, he invite japanese jazz lovers to discover new talents from abroad. For the first edition of Jazz Ambassador Makoto Kuriya receives Emie R Roussel , a young lady pianist , coming from Quebec (Canada), who has received numerous Canadian’s music awards in 2015 for her new album “Quantum “.

ケベック州モントリオール出身。
5歳からクラシック・ピアノを始め十代半ばからジャズ・ピアニストの父親からの影響でビル・エヴァンス、キース・ジャレットの作品を聴き始め、クラシック、ポップス、ジャズなどを融合したスタイルを好み、ブラッド・メルドーに影響を受ける。
モントリオール大学の基礎教養課程で即興演奏を含む基本的なジャズのスキルを学び、2010年にトリオを結成。
同年に全曲自作でアコースティック・サウンドをコンセプトにしたリーダー作「Temps Inegal」（Note Musik）をリリース。
2013年に「Transit」（Emie Jazz Band）では、トリオ演奏のほか、弦楽四重奏のサンジェルマン・カルテットやパーカッションも加えた作品もあり多彩な才能を発揮。
2012年、モントリオール・ジャズ祭にトリオで出演し、2014年にはエリザベス・シェパードとの共演を果たす。
そして、2015年2月、3枚目のアルバム「Quantum」（Effendi）を発表し、ケベック音楽評議会Prix Opusにて、ベスト・アルバム・ザ・イヤー2015を受賞。いまカナダで最も注目されている若手実力派ピアニストとして注目を浴びている。
Originally from the South Shore of Montreal (Quebec, Canada) , Emie Rioux-Roussel discovered the fascinating world of music through her parents, themselves musicians and singers.
She began studying classical piano at the age of 5 and continued lessons until she was 13.
After a complete two-year break, she decided to follow her instincts and her love of improvisation to begin studying jazz with her father, jazz pianist Martin Roussel. He would be her mentor until she started studies at Cegep de St-Laurent college under the guidance of Lorraine Desmarais.
In 2010, Emie founded the Emie R Roussel Trio with whom she recorded her first album that same year, entitled Temps Inegal. Winner of the Félix at l’ADISQ for the 2015 jazz album of the year, which honoured Quantum, their 3rd CD, and the 2013-14 Opus prize for jazz album of the year with their preceding release,TRANSIT, Emie R Roussel is now an unstoppable force in the current Canadian jazz scene, having experienced a dizzying ascent.
In June 2015, she won the CALQ Award – Creator of the Year in Bas-St-Laurent. Emie has been fortunate to share the stage with several renowned Canadian musicians, such as Terry Clarke, Mike Gauthier, Éric Lagacé, Dave Watts, Norman Lachapelle and Frédéric Alarie. She also played with saxophonist Yannick Rieu and singer Elizabeth Shepherd during a show at the 35th Montreal Jazz Fest, recorded by Radio-Canada.
From 2014 now, she performed and acclaimed worlwide, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Estonia, France, Mexico. Since its release, her trio album Quantum (Effendi records 2015) has been getting rave reviews (Jazz News and Jazz Magazine (France), Jazz Perspective (Japan), JazzWax (United States), etc., hitting the top of the charts on iTunes and receiving a very warm welcome both in Canada and internationally. The Emie R Roussel Trio stands out because of its unique musical universe, a blend of their many influences. In Japan, Emie R Roussel will perform for the very first time in June 2016, with Dominic Cloutier (drums), and Levi Dover (Electric bass); thanks to her new album release (Quantum) by Disk Union.

高校卒業後渡米し、ウェストバージニア大学にて言語学を専攻。
在学中にライブ活動を開始。卒業後はピッツバーグ大学にてジャズ講師を務める傍ら、米東海岸各地で活動。
グラミー受賞者チャック・マンジョーネ・グループに参加するほか、多くのジャズの巨匠と共演。
帰国後これまで17枚のリーダー作を発表、10回以上のヨーロッパ公演をはじめ、豪州、モロッコ、台湾、エジプト公演も成功をおさめる。
学生時代に交流を深めた黒人コミュニティの影響でソウルフル、知的、ロマンティックな音楽性、そして音色の透明感に定評がある。
これまでマリーン、SHANTIなどのジャズ作品をはじめ、平井堅、八代亜紀、土岐麻子などのポップスや、TVテーマ曲、CM、映画音楽など幅広い作品を手がけている。
2011年、アルバムデビュー20周年を記念し総勢27名のゲストを擁したアルバム「Art for Life」を発表。
翌年アニメテーマ・カバー作品「新世紀スタンダード」を発表し、クリヤが継続的にサントラへ参加している『新世紀エヴァンゲリオン』の楽曲もカバー。
2013年は人気ミュージカル・ナンバーを収録した「Favorite Musical Jazz 夢やぶれて」をピアノトリオで発表。
そして2014年3月、日本・米国・欧州との3ヶ国合同ユニット「Just Music」を日本、ヨーロッパにて発表。
同年4月、総勢22名の内外で活躍するアーティストをフィーチャーした大作「ナッシン・バット・ジャズ」を発表。10月にはクリヤを１週間フィーチャーしたフェスティバル形式の特別ライブがロンドンで開催。同時にイタリア、ポーランドを含む欧州ツアーなど、常に国境をまたいで意欲的な活動を行っている。

Born in Kobe, Japan, graduated from West Virginia University with a linguistics major, and later studied and performed with Nathan Davis at the University of Pittsburgh. He spent most of 80’s in the States and toured with Grammy winning Chuck Mangione in the late 80’s.

Back to Japan in 1990, he produced a series of CD’s resulting in many awards, and was also much in demand for commercial recording work. In the mid 90′, he performed the soundtrack for the platinum winning “Neo Genesis Evangelion” which became a global success.

Since 2001, Kuriya has been writing and producing songs for best selling pop artist, Ken Hirai. In 2002, he completed the movie soundtrack for “Nitaboh” performed by the Warsaw Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.In 2004, Kuriya performed with his own group and with Herbie Hancock at “Tokyo Jazz”, the largest jazz festival in Japan, and in Paris for the “International Music Day” organised by UNESCO, with such greats as Billy Cobham, John Faddis ,and Jonny Griffin.

Since 2005 to present, Kuriya tours Europe every year including countries like France, UK, Italy, Hungary, Poland, Germany and also other parts of the world as Egypt, Taiwan, Australia forming different trios and groups for performance and also holding workshops and active collaborations with local artists all in great success.
